Further valve capabilities

Isolation, regulation and protection

Gate valves

Primarily for fully open or fully closed isolation. Select the pressure class, end connections and construction for the service.

Globe valves

For applications requiring flow regulation. Check allowable pressure drop, temperature, trim and operating requirements.

Check valves

For preventing reverse flow. Orientation, flow velocity, closing behaviour and the wider system must be considered.

Safety valves

Pressure-relief devices need application-specific sizing, set-pressure selection and confirmation of applicable requirements.

Pipe fittings, control accessories and other configurations can be discussed with our team.

Selection checklist

A reliable selection starts with the system.

Tell us what the valve needs to do and where it will operate. A nominal pipe size alone does not determine the correct product.

Discuss your specification
  • Medium: composition, corrosion, abrasion and any solids.
  • Operating limits: normal and maximum pressure and temperature.
  • Duty: isolation, throttling, non-return or pressure relief.
  • Connections: size, flange standard, thread type or weld ends.
  • Materials: body, trim, seats and seals compatible with the fluid.
  • Actuation: manual, electric, pneumatic or hydraulic, including controls and feedback.
Valve questions

Common specification questions

Can a valve be selected from pipe size alone?

No. Size is only one input. Pressure, temperature, medium, required function, materials, connections and operating conditions also affect selection.

Which valve should I use for isolation or flow control?

The appropriate type depends on the duty. Many ball and gate valves serve isolation duties, while suitable globe and control-valve designs support regulation. Ask us to check the particular model and application.

Can you supply an actuated valve package?

Valve Technics handles electric, pneumatic and hydraulic actuation enquiries. Send the required function, utilities, control signal, torque or thrust requirements and failure position.

What information helps when replacing an existing valve?

Send photographs, the nameplate or casting markings, nominal size, connection standard, face-to-face dimension, operating conditions and the required materials.

Can I use the same material for every chemical?

No. Compatibility varies with chemical concentration, temperature and other service conditions. Body materials, seats, seals and trim must all be assessed.

Do you also assist with pumps?

Yes. Visit our separate Pumps page for illustrated pump families, manufacturer information and the duty details needed for a quotation.

Have a valve specification ready?

Send the details, a drawing or photographs of the existing equipment.
